Refugee Law Project
The Refugee Law Project is based at Makerere University in Uganda. The group's mission is to promote human rights in Uganda. They work particularly with refugees and asylum-seekers who have come there to make a new life and face barriers such as ethnic and linguistic discrimination. Like North America--and Salt Lake City, in particular--Uganda is a major refugee and advocacy center on the African continent. You can learn more about this group and their impact through one of their many YouTube videos. I particularly recommend "The New Me" and "Hidden Bruises."

An exciting series of events celebrating the amazing diversity that come to our city--sometimes painfully through the gates of exile--and recognizing their struggles to integrate and feel at home.
